Trackbacks from my blog don’t go

Whenever I link to a blog post from another blog my blogging software — WordPress — doesn’t send out trackbacks. I need active trackbacks because sometimes instead leaving a big comment on another blogger’s comment section, I prefer to write the post on my blog. Someone out there knows how this problem can be solved? I have done the usual stuff in the control panel.
