The Global Voices Meet in Delhi Covered By Wired News
Dec 22, 2006
My sister-in-law attended the Global Voices meet held in Delhi last Saturday. She occasionally writes for Global Voices. I might have gone too, had they invited me, since I heard even people who don’t write for Global Voices were there from far away countries. Well, nobody invites me to any meet :-).
Global Voices is an online community of bloggers from practically all over the world. They highlight socially relevant issues emerging from different communities and societies.
Wired News has covered the meet in detail in an aptly titled article Bloggers Shrink The Planet. This is so true. Bloggers are the greatest communicators of our times. They bring to us myriad facets of different cultures and societies and the joys and pathos that surround them. Some attendees were exiles because they constantly tell the rest of the world what atrocious regimes rule in their countries. Here, blogging attains an entirely new meaning. It gives people power to express, power to convey ideas, and power to spread messages all over the world.
