Social Media Scam - Digg Spam
Dec 03, 2006
The Contentious blog has a post stating that some spammers are now targeting social networks like Digg to get more hits. The post refers to an observation by Nial Kennedy on his blog. SEO companies, for instance Pronet Advertising use Digg a lot to get tons of traffic to their clients’ website, so may be the spammers are getting inspiration from such, of course legitimate, efforts. For social media networks self-monitoring is the only viable solution because automation can really wreck havoc with some of the genuine diggings or bookmarkings.
