Shifting to a new place
Oct 25, 2005
I’m in the process of shifting my house. It’s not far away from my current residence but still, it’s in another city. The area is quite open and windy — it’ll be good for my 3-month-old daughter. The current house does not have good ventilation.
This is my first major shift after marriage. Till now my wife, Alka, and I had been living in our parents’ house (they live in another country). The reason was my parents didn’t want to leave this house unattended. Alka has never liked this house and for more than a year we had been planning to move out. Another thing was that we had practically nothing that we could call our own because the house has everything. We have been buying things but it’s another feeling when you buy things for your own place. So this time we decided that my parents should sort out how they want to maintain their house (they can give it on rent to someone, for instance) and we should move to our own place.
So we’ve been busy moving our stuff and buying new things. The apartment is on the second floor, and every room has its own balcony. The natural light comes in every room, and in the main room — the one we call here the “drawing room” — you don’t have to switch on the lights until it’s very dark outside. Both Alka and I love natural light. In our current house we never see the sun in winters because everywhere there are buildings. But at the new place the sunlight will be there all day. We are really looking forward to living there.
The work is being obstructed due to this. I’ll also be getting my Internet and phone connection transferred. This may render me offline for a couple of days. So if I’m working on your project, please bear this with me. I assure you that this is only going to improve the quality of my work because in the new apartment I’ll have a separate “work room”. Ok then, I’ll keep you guys updated.
