Selling Microcontent
Jan 28, 2007
Good news for content publishers, at least those who want to sell content online at very low prices, say $0.01 or $0.10 every month. Microsoft is developing a micropayment system that will enable smaller content publishers to charge without incurring deterring expenses per transaction. To buy microcontent you won’t have to pay using your credit card. It’ll just be a one-click affair.
I said “good news” because there are really some talented content producers who cannot charge the consumers just because it’s a great hassle. And consumers too would like to pay for quality content. I think it’s depressing to think that people want to read your stuff just because it’s free and if they have to pay even $0.10 per month they won’t read it :-).
