MyBlogLog Sold To Yahoo!

Jan 09, 2007

Online companies are sold and bought like the raindrops falling in a rainy season. In fact it seems most of the online businesses — whether they are widgets or blogs — are developed keeping in mind that sooner than later they’ll be sold to the big daddies like Google, Yahoo or even Ebay.

This time it’s MyBlogLog that’s been sold to Yahoo! and the guys at MyBlogLog have made some decent money. I cannot find the link now, even Mena Trott of Six Apart expressed her willingness to sell her blogging platform given a good price.

I can relate to, and not relate to such sellings. When you’ve been working on a product, or an idea, for so many years, you get emotionally attached to it; it’s hard to part with it. But then it all depends on what you want in life, and in business. Sometimes we realize we cannot go further than we have already gone, and it’s time to move onto something else. And I think after the sale — a good, profitable sale — it’s easier to work on the next idea because by now you are financially secure.

Anyway, I’ve been using the MyBlogLog widget (the photographs that you see on the right hand side) for quite some time and I really like it. It’s a very non-intrusive way of leaving your footprints on the blogs and websites you visit. There are some really cool communities slowly developing on MyBlogLog.
