My 6 Predictions for 2007
Dec 30, 2006

OK, I’m going to take a plunge into this ongoing next-year-predictions-mania and enlighten you with my own take on this, although I cannot usually predict what’s going to happen even next week. In the end of the post I’ll see if I’d like to turn it into a tag game. I don’t know many bloggers right now (and they don’t know me) but somewhere one has to make a start. So here I go:
- Blogging will grow stronger. Predictable? Sure. Contrary to what its detractors think, blogging will become a staple diet of news and the latest updates for millions of online surfers. In case of natural disasters bloggers will again prove how well they can communicate and collaborate and organize help and volunteers.
- Online content writers will be paid more. Well, you may think it is a blatantly biased prediction considering that I’m a content writer, but over the last years (not in India of course) I have seen more and more online entrepreneurs recognizing the criticality of the written word on their websites. In fact, like we have university courses on creative writing and copywriting, there may also be some good courses on web content writing.
- More Web 2.0 applications will be launched and more and more people will embrace them. Depending on the surfing speed, some good online operating systems will become prominent. Word processors too will be among the favorites. The social networking websites will lose some of their luster as even now they are needlessly over-hyped.
- There will be more people working from remote locations and less people working in the offices. A new trend will see people working for more than one company because they won’t have to go to office. It’ll give them more job security, and even more income. Online project collaboration software will play an important role in this.
- Old media and new media will converge. Although this is something, right now, I don’t find appealing, but you’ll be seeing TV with greater ease from your PC or laptop. Video on cell phones and PDA’s will never catch on even in 3007.
- More and more old people will be using the Internet to express themselves and to communicate with their loved ones. It’s already happening but in 2007 with new software and hardware it’ll be a lot easier.
So these are my 6 predictions for 2007. I’d like the following people to continue with their own 6 2007 predictions:
- Cameron and Neil at Pronetadvertising
- Kian at Blogoprebeur
- Easton at BusinessBlogWire
- Liz at Successful Blog

A agree with you Amrit, that blog is just in the beginning stage and it is going to be the way that people use to communicate among friends and love one.
Another things that I feel that it is going to be an impact on blog is podcast and video on blog. I think more and more people will use video an podcast on their blog as I can see that will be the upcoming trend.

I agree with you Tan, and in fact I’ve been trying my family members and relatives (they live in different cities and countries) to use Vox for such type of blogging.
Yes, with the advent of faster surfing (I hope so) video and audio streaming is going to improve and this will give a boost to video-blogging and podcasting.
