Does putting Technorati and other tags on your blog help
Sep 04, 2006
Right now I have no idea. On Google I was looking for a plugin to add Technorati tags to individual posts. Then it came to my mind, I haven’t read much on why do people put such tags on their blogs and websites?
So I searched for “what’s the use of technorati tags” and I found this very interesting post – the post had been triggered by this post on BuzzMachine. Anyway, the first link led me to this link and this further led me here, a post written to basically debunk this post. Before I write more I must mention that these are old posts.
All this scholarly discussion led me to a post about microformats.
So now do I know whether I want Technorati tags on my blog posts or not? I’m more clueless now. So the idea postponed for a few days.

Design-wise, I think it’s ok to place “Digg This” at the very least, but not more than two tags.
I believe these tags really do help, because if a reader likes your post, and he wants to tell people about it, all he’ll have to do is click the link. I’ve always believed that a blog’s success depends on how easy you make it for the reader.

Hello there.
I was just been suggested using tags here.
I was wondering if Technorati tagging helps at all, because I don’t notice much traffic on the other blog I am running.
You setup tagging yet?

@Rico:
Hi Rico. I agree too many tags look jumbled but it doesn’t harm to put the important ones, even more than two, if you can put them without causing obstructions.

@Yuri:
Hi Yuri. I don’t have enough data to make an educated guess about the traffic trend as I’ve just about started monitoring the stats. I haven’t set up the Technorati tags yet, as at many places I’ve read the categories do the needful. Thanks for the forum link
