Content is King alright, but then…
Dec 28, 2006
I know, I know, the expression has been reduced to a cliché because it has been chanted so many times. But since my blog is primarily about content, I can repeat the expression as many times as I feel like and there is a sense of validity in it because after all, what’s your website, what’s your blog without content? And it doesn’t need to be just written content.
Actually, your content is, whatever you visitors want when they visit your website or blog. It can be images, videos, downloadable games and programs, blog templates, cartoons, I mean, anything. Whatever you offer from your website is your content and people keep visiting you as long as you give them the right content.
But on the highly competitive Internet, your quality content solely cannot bring you success. You have to play the game, and you have to follow the rules of the game, and the most important rule is, be heard. Yes, there is so much noise, so much din on the Internet that it’s very easy to be overlooked even by those who are looking for you. So you have to stand out. In the crowd, either you have to be at the forefront of the hubbub, or you should be high up on a platform where you become distinct and visible. What I mean is, you need to take steps to promote your content, you need to network with others who just like you are producing and promoting their content. Continuous promotion is a quintessential part of your online survival.
You can promote your content many ways. You can link to other websites and blogs. You can create conducive circumstances that make people link to you. You can contribute on forums and other online platforms. You can apply SEO guidelines. There are hundreds of ways and I’ll gradually cover as many as I can, or am aware of.
I just wanted to say that, yes, content is king, but this king needs continuous promotion, continuous canvassing.
