Comment Spam or Email Span - Do Not Respond

Spammer

Lorelle on her blog has an angry post on spam – the scourge of the Internet. Once I read the story of this Russian spam king Igor Vishnevsky (oh! I just love Russian names) at Wired.com and there was one thing clear in the story: the spammers know that they are a nuisance and people simply loath them. Still, they revel in the fact that they can rile millions of people without getting caught and on top of that they can make lots of money too promoting shady products. This Russian spammer suffered a tragic death and I don’t wish such culminations for such people, but still, they are worse than mosquitoes (with due respect to those who die of malaria) and flies who I think are the most irksome creatures God ever created.

These spammers are so greedy and stupid that they leave comments even through my contact form at amrithallan.com. Just a few minutes ago I received this message:

How To Make $25 In Just 7 Minutes, Sitting At Home In Front Of The Computer… And The Best Part Is… You Can Do It Over And Over Again!

Surely such messages are not computer-generated. Humans (they mostly have Indian names these days) personally visit my websites and drop stupid comments I’m never going to reply or act upon. The best respond to spam is, don’t respond. Even if you send a “Remove me from your mailing list” it tells them the email ID is active and so they start sending you spam more aggressively. Just don’t reply.
