Are Blogging Jobs Available?
Jun 23, 2007
An article in the New York Times, titled Can Blogs Become a Big Source of Jobs says:
The bottom line is this: while running a Web log is a skill that more and more employers seek in their employees, finding full-time work in that world is still unusual.
This is because professional blogging, or business blogging, is still at a nascent stage. There are still very few companies that realize that a blog can be an exceptional branding tool and it can drive tons of traffic to your business website. But this doesn’t mean people are not working as full time bloggers. There are many bloggers whose sole source of income are their blogs, and they are doing well.
And then the article says:
Raj Dash, a Toronto blogger who hires bloggers and posts opportunities for them on his RajDash site, has five jobs listed. For his own blog, Chameleon Integration, which covers technology and the Internet, bloggers who write two posts a day, with up to 40 posts a month of 150 to 250 words each, receive $220 a month, or $5.50 a posting.
It’s not that a blogger writes just for one blog. If writing for one blog gets you $220, writing for 10 can get you $2,200. It depends on how fast and how well you can write. On an average I charge $30 (my posts are longer and most of them are SEO-centric) per blog post and I have 4 clients for whom I’m writing blog posts. Although, due to fewer posts the money is not great, as the number of blogging assignments increases I hope to make decent amount out of blogging in a few months.
