About Working from Home

Dec 14, 2006

Blogging Pro has featured Ryan Irelan’s post titled Working from Home where he talks about how he enjoys working from home and how he tries to draw a  line between work time and no-work time. With easy connectivity and long commuting hours being the norm, more and more people opt to work from home. I too work from home and I’ve been working from home for, umm…ever. Ryan says he has been working from home for 5 months, and these are the things he has learnt about working from home:

  • Learn to clock out: This means don’t just keep on working. Let your clients know that you only work for a certain number of hours. (I haven’t been able to achieve this yet but I’m moving in that direction).
  • Get out of the house: Once you start working from home, there remains sometimes no reason to step out, more so when you spouse (if you’ve married) or your partner, or your parents, can handle all the shopping stuff. (My wife and I these days regularly go for long walks, along with our 16-month-old daughter; this gives us plenty of time to be together and talk).
  • The comfort zone: You must have your own place, preferably a separate room to work. (I cannot afford this luxury right now due to some reasons).

Working from home certainly has its ups and down, but I wouldn’t trade it for any other occupation in the world. My biggest joy of working from home is that I can be with my daughter most of the time and be there for my wife when she needs me.

    Hi there,
I am interested in Writing, it can be short story writing, erotic writing or content writing. I would like to take it as a profession.
Besides, I would like to test myself and see how people accept me as a writer. I have written erotic stuff for a website, they were highly popular but that company cheated on me. They never paid me a penny.
So, how do I get started all over again.
I am based in India, and work as a Technical Administrator in an European Multinational Company in Telecommunications business.
    Thanks and regards.
