A sincere client

Aug 31, 2005

Yesterday a client emailed me expressing regret at not sending an old payment. He also informed that he had sent the payment. I had totally forgotten about this, hadn’t sent him a follow up email, and he could have easily ignored the whole issue. But this is what makes working online worthwhile. Many a time I have read, and also written, about clients who disappear after getting the work done, without paying, or after making the initial payment. This client had paid an advance. Then I wrote an article for him. He accepted it and wanted to close the deal. I told him that he needed to pay me the remaining 50% of the amount we had initially agreed upon. No communication occured for nearly two weeks.

And then I received a notification from him yesterday. It is always heartening to note that even on the Internet, where anonymity and inaccessibility is a done phenomenon, there are people who are sincere about their work, and also value others’ time. I wanted to write about this because a while ago I wrote about some clients who never paid.
