A new laptop after all
Oct 13, 2006
I’ve been having hardware problems for some time; and day before yesterday my Toshiba laptop’s hard disk crashed just seconds after I’d taken important backups. When you’ve been using your laptop or computer for a few years, you can detect their subtle nuances. So as soon as something told me that my hard disk was about to crash, I started moving my files to my PC. Just when I had backed up the life-saving files (all the content writing projects I’ve done so far, my client’s PHP files, the mp3 songs my 15-month-old daughter loves and our family photo archives) and I was about to backup “disposable” files the laptop stopped responding and after that it never did even after I had tried installing everything from the original disk.
I’ve done lots of projects on my Toshiba laptop but it had begun to become a hindrance by not allowing me to run more than one applications simultaneously. My word processor would take ages to load if I kept Yahoo messenger or Skype running. This problem is not there on the new laptop. Almost all chat software is running and I’m working comfortably.
I hope this way I can keep in touch with more people. Already a client just called me randomly using Skype and I talked to her immediately. Previously I had to give them some time and then log in at that time.
