My weak point as a content writer
Oct 31, 2006 2 Comments »
I know it is dangerous — seemingly — to declare it on my blog: a client rejected my work because he said my copy was not “American enough”. I’m not refuting his claim because when we started work we were on good terms and I haven’t had much exposure to the contemporary American language — not being in America. The surprising thing is, this reaction has come for the first time.

The Cisco blog review
Oct 28, 2006 1 Comment »
This post has been long due. In fact I shouldn’t say “This”, I should say “A” because I haven’t been writing much here. Ever since my illness there’s been a lull over here because almost for a month I didn’t work, and fortunately, almost all of my clients waited for me to get better. So I thought, well, at this moment when I need to slog on the backlog and earn money to fill the hole created by my medical bills, blogging can wait for a few days. I have sorted most of the things now, and I think this weekend is a better time to re-enter the realm of regular bloggers.
A few weeks ago Easton on his blog announced the Fortune 500 Blog Project where he invited different bloggers to write reviews on various blogs being run by the Fortune 500 countries. There is a WiKi on the Fortune 500 Blog Project where you can follow the progress and participate in this group effort. You can select (among the remaining) a Fortun 500 corporate blog and write a review of the blog on your own blog and then put the link to the review on the list of the group’s WiKi. I have chosen Cisco’s blog for today’s review.

Need to proofread comment minutely

Finally, if you really want to write something serious, write for money. Believe me, once you begin to get paid for your work , your writing can improve manifolds simply because you’re not going to get paid if you don’t write good. The portion above the **** line was picked from this link (I’ve corrected the language after receiving the comment).

Good is an adjective. Well is an adverb. A manifold is a part of an engine. Please proofread your work well.
Good is an adjective. Well is an adverb. I know this and I don’t know how I mixed them up while writing the article. I’m thankful to the anonymous person for pointing this out. He/she did not leave an email otherwise I’d have sent a personal thank you note. Reminds me: the older content should be routinely checked for proofreading (grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.) errors. This is more so important for a copywriter because people expect — justifiably — you to be adept in the language you use to communicate.

A new laptop after all
Oct 13, 2006 No Comments »
I’ve been having hardware problems for some time; and day before yesterday my Toshiba laptop’s hard disk crashed just seconds after I’d taken important backups. When you’ve been using your laptop or computer for a few years, you can detect their subtle nuances. So as soon as something told me that my hard disk was about to crash, I started moving my files to my PC. Just when I had backed up the life-saving files (all the content writing projects I’ve done so far, my client’s PHP files, the mp3 songs my 15-month-old daughter loves and our family photo archives) and I was about to backup “disposable” files the laptop stopped responding and after that it never did even after I had tried installing everything from the original disk.

Am I an SEO expert or not
Oct 10, 2006 4 Comments »
I certainly am not and I tell this to my clients outright. I certainly write SEO content and it gets my clients’ websites, most often, high rankings, but beyond that, I tell them I have some experience, but I’m not an expert. Still, some clients hire me for their SEO work simply because I’ve been around for a long time and have a basic idea of how search engines evaluate various web pages.
