Keeping your blog from being hacked

Sep 07, 2006 No Comments »

Darren’s ProBlogger.net was recently hacked and with growing popularity of some blogs, more and more such incidents are bound to happen. You can take the following steps to keep your blog from being hacked to a great extent:

  • Host your blog with a known hosting company as it ensures proper security.
  • Keep your passwords safe
  • Don’t use predictable passwords
  • Keep updating your blog management software (WordPress.org, etc.) as with every new release they try to plug the old security holes
  • Keep regular backups

Hacking is an inescapable reality but by taking the above mentioned steps you can keep the damage to its minimum.
