Is Google going to favor certain websites?

Aug 23, 2006 No Comments »

According to a post titled Favored vs. Non-Favored Sources, human editors are going to decide what websites the search results favor or disfavor. It is good as well as bad. Spam blogs threaten blogsphere

Aug 21, 2006 No Comments »

So just like in emails, spammers have begun to play spoilsports in the blog world too. They create now spam blogs, aptly called splogs. According to this post that’s been sourced from the next month’s yet-unpublished issue of Wired:

  • Some 56 percent of active English-language blogs are spam, according to researchers at the University of Maryland
  • A survey by Mitesh Vasa in December 2005 found that Blogger.com was hosting more than 100,000 sploggers
  • One splogger interviewed by Wired (I’m not going to dignify him with a mention) made over $70,000 in just three months from his network of splogs

The writer rightly says that we cannot just blame sploggers for creating spam blog networks and raking in thousands of dollars because after all they are selling advertisements for other advertisers like Google’s AdSense. Are these companies taking steps to curb spam blogs? It’ll be hard thing to do because through these nefarious means even they are earning big money.

Why services are cheap from India

Aug 18, 2006 3 Comments »

An innocuous comment on Brian’s copywriting blog contains this light reference:

If he was around today he’d put his project up on elance. Get Aristotle to write the blog posts and sales letter, and give Plato the job of fattening out 40 pages of quality stuff into a 200 page ebook.

Unless of course he received a cheaper bid from India.
